WRC rejects two sick-pay complaints against Unilin Insulation

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Oliver Smith’s two Payment of Wages complaints against Unilin Insulation were not well-founded. The decision, dated 27 March 2025, concerned his request to be paid normal wages instead of sick pay for an absence following a workplace accident. Smith said he received full salary for two weeks under the company’s sick-pay scheme but believed he should have been paid normal wages and allowed to choose whether to claim sick leave. The company said the payment met its statutory and contractual obligations. The adjudication officer found no deduction had been made and no contravention of the Act.
