The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to investigate Matthew Murtagh’s Equal Status complaint against the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman. The decision was dated 27 March 2025. Murtagh alleged that the ombudsman handled his complaint unsatisfactorily. The respondent raised preliminary objections to the WRC’s jurisdiction. The adjudication officer found the complaint concerned an investigation under the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman Act 2017, which fell within the enactment exception in the Equal Status Acts.
