The WRC found a healthcare assistant’s parental-leave complaint was brought outside the time limit and was not well founded; the merits were not decided. In a decision dated 26 March 2025, WRC Adjudication Officer Donal Moore said he had no jurisdiction to hear it. The complainant said a former manager approved indefinite parental leave to care for her nephew, for whom she was legal guardian, but a successor refused her preferred arrangement. The employer said indefinite leave was not permitted by its policy or the Act and that its final refusal was issued on 26 March 2024. The adjudicator found that lack of knowledge of the filing deadline did not justify extending the time limit.
