WRC rejects Dense Air Ireland manager’s bonus claims

The Workplace Relations Commission found both parts of Charles Cleary’s Payment of Wages Act complaint not well founded, with no award recorded. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne dated the decision 18 November 2024. Cleary claimed an unpaid contractual bonus of 5% of salary for 2022 to 2024 and a pro-rated 2024 incentive bonus after redundancy. The WRC found it had no jurisdiction over the 5% claim because it was outside the six-month time limit. It found the incentive bonus was not properly payable because Cleary’s employment had ended before its expected payment date. Dense Air Ireland Limited did not attend the hearing, and the decision was based solely on Cleary’s evidence.
