The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Marina Tanasiev €15,390 after finding that Coffee Creations Ltd trading as Esquires Coffee dismissed her because of her gender, in breach of the Employment Equality Act. The decision, dated 4 December 2025, also awarded her €1,026 on each of two complaints about written employment terms.
Tanasiev told the WRC she informed her manager she was pregnant and was dismissed when she returned from leave. The company did not attend the hearing or provide evidence. The adjudication officer accepted her unchallenged evidence and found discrimination. The award reflected her wage losses and the need for a dissuasive remedy.
The WRC rejected her Sunday-premium complaint because no breach occurred within the applicable time limit. She withdrew a separate unfair-dismissal complaint. The written-terms complaints concerned a late core-terms statement with an inaccurate start date and a contract omitting required conditions.
