The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Board of Management, St. John's Special School to pay Amy Beer €40,000 after finding that pregnancy significantly influenced its decision not to appoint her to a special needs assistant position for the 2023/2024 school year. The decision was dated 4 December 2025.

Beer alleged gender and family-status discrimination in the selection process. The school denied discrimination and said it used established interview criteria. The WRC found gender discrimination but rejected the family-status complaint. It also ordered the school to review its recruitment procedures and training.
