The Workplace Relations Commission found the Health Service Executive did not contravene the Payment of Wages Act over a €192.63 deduction from Desmond Wade’s wages to recover an overpayment. The WRC decision was dated 19 September 2024. Wade said he had not been told about the deduction in advance. The HSE acknowledged he had not been advised of its nature beforehand, but Wade accepted it related to an overpayment. The adjudicator applied the Act’s exception for deductions that reimburse an employer for overpaid wages.
