The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Lauren Carthy McCartan €1,774.29 after finding Cluain Ard Meats, trading as The Saucy Butcher, failed to give adequate notice of her redundancy. The decision was dated 19 December 2024. McCartan said she was told on 26 January that her employment would end by redundancy five days later. The company said it had given notice at a 15 January meeting, but the WRC found that meeting concerned a possible business transfer and indicated her employment would continue. The WRC also upheld her redundancy payment complaint, if the payment had not already been made, but rejected her unfair dismissal, wages and duplicate redundancy complaints.
