WRC awards €4,000 to Sam Ellison for unfair dismissal

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Sam Ellison €4,000 for unfair dismissal and €380 in unpaid wages. In a decision dated 16 December 2025, adjudication officer Marguerite Buckley also awarded one week’s notice pay of €380. Kb Private Limited said Ellison took leave without approval and that his conduct during an altercation with his manager justified dismissal. The WRC found the dismissal unfair, citing serious procedural flaws, the absence of a disciplinary process and conduct that did not warrant dismissal. It rejected Ellison’s claim that a report about a customer’s threat led to reduced hours or dismissal, and he withdrew his fixed-term work complaint.
