WRC rejects wage deduction complaint as out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Sharon Mc Donnell’s complaint against MyDocs over an alleged €1,106 wage deduction. Adjudication Officer Máire Mulcahy’s decision was dated 15 April 2025. Mc Donnell said the deduction occurred on 31 August 2023 and sought an extension, explaining that an earlier complaint had used the wrong statute and address and that she did not know she could appeal. MyDocs argued the complaint was outside the statutory time limit and denied an unlawful deduction. The officer found there was no reasonable cause to extend time. The WRC did not decide whether the deduction occurred or was unlawful, and made no award.
