The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Liam Scott’s age discrimination complaint against the National Driving License Service (NDLS), Adjudication Officer Michael McEntee decided in a ruling dated 15 April 2025. Scott alleged that the NDLS treated him less favourably because of his age by refusing his request for a 10-year driving licence. The NDLS said it was carrying out statutory duties under national and EU legislation. The officer found that the driving licence rules required the service to follow the published requirements, so section 14 of the Equal Status Act applied and the complaint failed. Scott received a licence valid until 29 April 2027.
