The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Claudia O'Connor €10,415 after upholding her complaint that Bretland Construction Limited discriminated against her by dismissing her while pregnant. Adjudication Officer Máire Mulcahy’s decision was dated 15 April 2025.

The WRC also awarded €673 for each of two breaches involving written employment terms and €201 for an annual leave shortfall. The officer found O'Connor was entitled to 11.5 days’ leave and had been paid for 10. She did not uphold her claim that illness affected six leave days. The respondent denied discrimination and said the dismissal followed performance concerns. The officer accepted those concerns but found the respondent had not shown the dismissal was wholly unconnected with pregnancy. Six other complaints were withdrawn.
