WRC rejects Diageo worker’s claim for withheld bonus

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Krzysztof Figiel’s Payment of Wages Act claim for a bonus withheld after he resigned from Diageo Baileys Global Supply before October. The decision was dated 28 April 2025. Figiel argued that his contract and workplace practice did not require him to remain employed until October. Diageo said the signed contract made October employment a condition of payment. Adjudication Officer Donal Moore found that the condition continued when Figiel’s contract became permanent and that examples involving retirement or redundancy were distinct from his resignation.
