WRC awards former Connolly Accountants employee €5,000 for constructive dismissal

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Susanna Givernaud €5,000 for constructive dismissal and upheld two other complaints against Connolly Accountants & Business Advisors Ltd (In liquidation). The decision was dated 30 July 2024. Givernaud said she expected her practice manager responsibilities to be reduced after maternity leave without agreed terms. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The officer found the firm’s failure to confirm her role and responsibilities broke contractual trust and justified her resignation. Givernaud also received €165 net over an excessive pension deduction and €2,500 compensation because she was not given full employment terms. Her working-hours and equality complaints were withdrawn. The officer calculated the net pension repayment at 66% of the €250 gross over-deduction.
