The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Susan Dwane’s redundancy appeal and set her statutory payment at €40,356, subject to her employment being insurable for this purpose. The WRC decision was dated 30 July 2024. Dwane had worked as principal and teacher at Rockboro School for 33 years before the school closed.
The school association’s representatives said they understood Dwane would accept €20,000 instead of her statutory entitlement. Dwane denied agreeing to that, and the officer preferred her evidence. The decision also upheld three unpaid wages complaints: €3,035.94 net for September, €3,035.94 net for October and €1,346.15 gross less lawful deductions for November 2023.
