The Workplace Relations Commission found Marie Treanor’s redundancy complaint well-founded after the closure of her employer’s taxi business. The decision, dated 5 April 2024, entitles her to a statutory redundancy payment based on her service and gross weekly pay of €328.60. Treanor worked for Mr Patrick Gilsenan trading as Call-A-Car from 1 March 2018 until 31 July 2023. Gilsenan accepted that she was made redundant and that the payment was due, but said he could not pay at the time. The WRC found that no redundancy payment had been made by the hearing. The decision says she is entitled to a redundancy payment calculated from those employment dates and her weekly pay. A statutory redundancy payment is based on an employee’s service and pay.
