The Workplace Relations Commission found Niamh Dullaghan entitled to statutory redundancy pay after her employer’s bakery business closed. The decision, dated 5 April 2024, says the entitlement is based on her service from 16 October 2014 to 26 March 2024 and is subject to her PRSI contribution status. Dullaghan said she worked 19 hours a week for the company, which traded as Arun Bakery, and also handled duties including markets, ordering stock and sales. The business closed in March 2020 and did not reopen. The WRC found that it had ceased operating where she worked, making her job redundant. The employer did not attend the hearing; the adjudicator proceeded on Dullaghan’s evidence after finding the company had been notified.
