Diego Barbosa won complaints over unpaid wages, annual leave, redundancy and minimum notice against Lifetimecare Limited, the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has ruled. In a decision dated 11 March 2024, the WRC upheld all six complaints. Barbosa told the WRC he worked as a financial controller on weekly pay of €612.50. The company announced it would cease trading on 5 October 2023, citing financial difficulties. It did not attend the hearing, and the adjudicator was satisfied it had notice. The WRC awarded €2,450 compensation for annual leave not taken during the leave year beginning in January 2023 and €2,450 for minimum notice. It also upheld three wage claims for €625.20, €662.81 and €515.18. The redundancy appeal succeeded, entitling Barbosa to a statutory lump sum based on employment beginning on 31 October 2017 and gross weekly pay of €612.50, subject to insurable employment. The decision does not state the lump-sum figure.
