Gillian Coyle won two redundancy complaints against The Parnell Gaa Club CLG, while six other complaints were not well founded and a minimum-notice complaint was dismissed. The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) dated its decision 11 March 2024. Coyle began work as a receptionist in November 2015, earning €250 a week. She said the club closed during the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020 and she was told not to come in. The club did not attend the hearing or engage with the WRC. The WRC found six claims, including those concerning wages, public-holiday and annual-leave entitlements, not well founded. Some were referred outside the time limit, so the merits were not decided. The two redundancy claims were upheld. Coyle is entitled to a statutory lump-sum payment based on her employment dates, lay-off period and gross weekly pay of €250, subject to insurable employment. The decision does not state the lump-sum figure.
