The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Gerald McGuinness €1,846.14 after finding Lites Group failed to give adequate advance notice of his working times. The decision, dated 14 May 2025, also awarded him €615.38 over an incorrect work location in his employment contract.
McGuinness said he was regularly called outside the hours in his contract and had to travel for work beyond those hours. The WRC upheld his complaint about start-time notification, citing uncontested evidence that he had to attend meetings outside notified hours and had a long work-related commute. It found the contract incorrectly listed Dublin as his work location.
The WRC rejected his complaints alleging wage underpayment and excessive working hours, and a penalisation complaint related to an alleged disclosure to the Revenue Commissioners. McGuinness said Lites Group deducted €800 from his final salary payment of €900; the employer said a payroll error had been corrected. The WRC found he had not established that he made a disclosure relating to a relevant offence or was penalised.
