The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Barbara Hession €4,171.17 for unpaid annual leave and compensation after finding her complaint well founded. The WRC also allowed her appeal for statutory redundancy pay, calculated on an average weekly wage of €798.08.

Hession worked as an office worker for Pearl Street Entreprises T/A Mmp Living from August 2016 until her job ended by redundancy in June 2023. She told the WRC she had not received redundancy pay or payment for outstanding annual leave. The company did not attend the hearing.

Adjudication Officer Brian Dolan dated the decision 5 July 2024. He found the employer had ceased operating, a valid basis for redundancy, and said Hession was entitled to statutory redundancy pay. For the annual-leave complaint, he ordered €3,671.17 for unpaid leave and €500 in compensation.
