The Workplace Relations Commission found Anthony Moran entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after George Leetch Construction Ltd. ceased business. The decision was dated 16 July 2024. The payment is conditional on his employment being insurable for the purpose and confirmation by the appropriate government agency. Moran said he worked for the company from 20 May 2013 until 28 December 2022 and received no redundancy payment after it closed. The employer did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer allowed his claim, setting out a basis of two weeks’ pay for each year or part-year of reckonable service, plus one week. The decision used a gross weekly wage of €367.08, calculated from his 2022 earnings of €19,088.39, and excludes periods of lay-off from reckonable service.
