Ann Dennehy won 18 sick-pay complaints against Alps Electric (Ireland) Limited, which the WRC directed to pay her €366.55 for each complaint. The WRC decision was dated 22 April 2024. Dennehy said she had been excluded from the company’s sick-pay scheme and was owed payment. The company argued she had not met its attendance threshold for readmission to the scheme. The adjudication officer found that Dennehy’s contract entitled her to sick pay during certified illness or injury, less social welfare payments, and did not make that entitlement conditional on the attendance policy. The officer extended the time limit for complaints about the earlier period, finding reasonable cause and no prejudice to the company.
