The Workplace Relations Commission found that The Governor And Company Of Bank Of Ireland did not engage in prohibited conduct in a race discrimination complaint brought by Janson Kelebeng. The decision was dated 22 April 2024.

Kelebeng said a bank employee made racist remarks and refused him service when he visited to seek an account with a debit card. He also said a security guard ordered him from the building after he sought help. Three bank witnesses denied discrimination or refusal of service.

The adjudication officer found the bank witnesses’ combined evidence more credible and concluded that Kelebeng had not established a prima facie case of discrimination. A second complaint was identified as a duplicate.
