The Workplace Relations Commission found for Gitana Prochoroviene in redundancy and minimum-notice complaints against Cribbin Family Butchers Limited (in liquidation), allowing her redundancy appeal for earlier service and ordering four additional weeks’ pay in lieu of notice. The redundancy payment is conditional on her employment being insurable for the relevant purpose. The company ceased trading in November 2022 and had already paid redundancy for part of Prochoroviene’s service. The WRC allowed her appeal for service from 13 December 2004 to 15 January 2015, using a gross weekly wage of €280. She had already received four weeks’ pay in lieu of notice; the officer found she was entitled to eight weeks after more than 15 years’ service and directed payment of the additional four weeks. Her working-time complaint was withdrawn at the start of the hearing. The decision was dated 17 January 2024.
