The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Mindaugas Matijosiene’s redundancy appeal and found that he was entitled to additional statutory redundancy for earlier service with Cribbin Family Butchers Limited (in liquidation). It also ordered the company to pay him an additional four weeks’ pay in lieu of notice. The decision was dated 17 January 2024. Matijosiene had already received four weeks’ notice pay, but the WRC found that his more than 15 years’ service entitled him to eight weeks’ notice in total. His working-time complaint was withdrawn. The redundancy entitlement covers service from 31 May 2004 to 15 January 2015 and is subject to insurable employment; the €600 gross weekly wage was the statutory cap used in that calculation.
