WRC rules Christina McGovern’s three complaints against Tagneys Bar out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Christina McGovern’s complaints against Toscain Trading as Tagneys Bar were out of time and that it lacked jurisdiction to inquire into them. The decision was dated 15 November 2023; the merits were not decided. McGovern, who worked as bar staff, alleged she had not received written employment terms, annual leave pay or public holiday entitlements. She referred the complaints in July 2022, more than six months after her employment ended in November 2021. The adjudication officer found her explanation for the delay did not justify extending the time limit. She had also initially raised a redundancy claim but did not pursue it.
