The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Phillip Kane t/a Kane’s Your Stop to pay Joanna Yahyaoui €220.50 after finding she received one week’s notice instead of the two weeks due. The decision was dated 15 September 2023. The WRC also found Kane was Yahyaoui’s employer and that she was entitled to statutory redundancy payment, subject to having been in insurable employment. The entitlement was based on employment from 10 September 2018 to 16 December 2022, 21 hours a week and gross weekly pay of €220.50. Kane had argued that responsibility lay with the previous owners, who were in liquidation.
