WRC orders €1,694 payment to Bridget Browne in notice case

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Philip Kane t/a Kane’s Yourstop to pay Bridget Browne €1,694 after finding she received one week’s notice instead of the eight weeks due. The decision was dated 15 September 2023. The WRC also found Kane was Browne’s employer and that she was entitled to statutory redundancy payment, subject to having been in insurable employment. The entitlement was based on employment from 6 April 1999 to 16 December 2022, 22 hours a week and gross weekly pay of €242. Kane had argued that responsibility lay with the previous owners, who were in liquidation.
