WRC awards Hekrem Hoxha €1,440 in Mounthawk Inns case

The Workplace Relations Commission found six complaints by Hekrem Hoxha against Mounthawk Inns Limited well founded, awarding him €1,440 for four weeks’ notice and other payments. The decision was dated 15 September 2023. Hoxha said he was owed redundancy pay, Sunday-work compensation, wages, annual leave pay, public-holiday entitlements and notice after his employment ended when the business closed in October 2022. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The WRC awarded €562.50 for Sunday work within the six-month period it could consider, €357.18 net for one week’s unpaid wages, €1,000 compensation for the annual-leave complaint, €45 for two public holidays and €1,440 for four weeks’ notice. It also found that Hoxha was entitled to a redundancy payment and that €720 in holiday pay was owed.
