WRC allows Paul Earley’s statutory redundancy appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Paul Earley’s appeal against the refusal of statutory redundancy pay. The decision was dated 7 March 2023. The liquidator, Grant Thornton, did not attend the hearing, so the adjudicator considered Earley’s evidence and documents. Earley worked for Roadbridge in the UK from August 2018, returned to Ireland in March 2020 and was made redundant in April 2022. The adjudicator found he had worked in Ireland for at least two years immediately before his employment ended, so his service in the UK could count towards his statutory redundancy entitlement. The decision gives a weekly maximum wage of €600 for the calculation; it does not state the amount payable.
