WRC awards Kevin O’Leary €2,269.46 over unauthorised pay cut

The Workplace Relations Commission found Kevin O’Leary’s wage complaint well founded and directed Xs Direct Insurance Brokers Ltd to pay him €2,269.46, less statutory deductions. The WRC dated its decision 31 January 2023. O’Leary, who worked as a recovery agent, said his wages were cut by 15% without agreement for November 2021, December 2021 and January 2022. His pay was restored in February 2022. The adjudicator found the reduction was unilateral and that the wages paid were below the amount contractually due. The respondent did not attend the hearing after being notified by post.
