WRC awards education worker €790 over missing hours information

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Martin Hamill €790, equivalent to one week’s pay, after finding that Kildare And Wicklow Education And Training Board breached the law by failing to state the hours it reasonably expected him to work. Hamill said his written employment terms did not accurately reflect aspects of his work, including his hours. The Board said it had provided comprehensive employment documents and contracts for his two roles. The WRC explained that the law requires employment terms to be given in writing; it does not enforce the terms themselves. The decision was dated 6 January 2023.
