WRC awards Huan Zhang €930 for untaken holiday pay

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Delforno Limited to pay Huan Zhang €930 for four days of untaken holiday pay. The decision was dated 27 September 2022. Zhang also complained about how her Covid-19 sickness benefit was treated and a payslip issued for a week when she received no wages. The WRC found that complaint was brought outside the time limit and was not well founded; the merits were not decided. The adjudication officer found holidays could not be substituted for sick leave, even at an employee’s request. Zhang was entitled to four days’ holiday pay. The €930 comprised €465 in arrears of pay and €465 for breach of a statutory right.
