A WRC Adjudication Officer awarded Khaled Elagamy €2,500 for a public holiday complaint and €1,000 for missing information in his employment statement. The decision, dated 14 March 2024, also found two National Minimum Wage complaints not well founded. Several other complaints were withdrawn, outside the WRC’s jurisdiction or outside the time limits.

Elagamy said he worked long hours aboard the fishing vessel Nausicaa and was underpaid. His representatives claimed a minimum wage shortfall of €65,326.31. Richard Brannagan disputed the hours alleged and said Elagamy was paid at least the minimum wage for the hours worked, with records kept of work and rest.

The officer said the evidence did not allow a reliable calculation of wages owed. The public holiday complaint had been conceded by Brannagan. The employment statement did not give the rate of pay or refer to the pension scheme. The officer found those two complaints well founded and made separate awards for each.
