The Workplace Relations Commission found Simona Kalinakite’s complaint against King Thomond Hotel was not well founded. The decision was dated 29 August 2022. A second, duplicate complaint was withdrawn. Kalinakite said she had not received written notice of a change to her employment terms when her hours ceased. The hotel said it placed her on lay-off on 4 November 2021 under her contract. The adjudicator found she had been notified in writing of the lay-off within a month, as required by the Act.
