Theresa Lynch was found entitled to a statutory redundancy lump sum after her employer’s catering business closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Workplace Relations Commission decision, dated 15 August 2022, set the entitlement using a start date of 1 March 2006, an end date of 30 March 2020 and weekly gross pay of €300, subject to her having been in insurable employment. Lynch worked as a waitress for Martella Food Services Ltd., which provided a dining service at Newlands Golf Club. The company director did not contest her claim and said he wanted her to receive what was due. The adjudication officer found the complaint well founded on Lynch’s uncontested evidence.
