The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Keith Mac Shim €1,400 after finding that Morgan Doyle Ltd breached employment law by failing to provide required employment documents. The decision, dated 4 April 2023, rejected Mac Shim’s unfair dismissal, commission and holiday pay complaints, and recorded that his minimum notice complaint was withdrawn.

Mac Shim said he was dismissed after his employer refused his requested annual leave; the company said he left after insisting on taking dates that were unavailable. The adjudicator found there had been no dismissal, noting that Mac Shim intended to take the leave despite being told it could not be accommodated. The commission and holiday pay complaints were also found not well founded. The employer did not dispute that it had failed to provide employment documents, and the WRC awarded two weeks’ wages as compensation. Minimum notice was withdrawn at the hearing.
