The Workplace Relations Commission found that Trevor Dunican was unfairly dismissed after workplace problems including unpaid wages and incorrect payslips, and awarded him €876.92 for six days of lost earnings. The decision, dated 24 February 2023, also awarded him €1,461.54 in unpaid wages and €979.23 for accrued annual leave. Dunican said a dispute between the company’s directors, unreliable pay and payslips, unpaid taxes and other problems destroyed his trust in the company. The respondent said the wage delay was temporary, payslips were corrected when requested and a repayment plan was in place for unpaid taxes. The WRC rejected his complaints about terms of employment, mobile transport working-time rules and race discrimination. It found the terms complaint fell outside the relevant Act, that Dunican was not within the scope of the transport regulations, and that he had not established a case of race discrimination.
