WRC declines jurisdiction over Gerard Huban’s €22,638 wage claim

The Workplace Relations Commission decided it had no jurisdiction to address Gerard Huban’s complaint against Denis Moriarty The Kerries Ltd because it was referred outside the statutory time limit. The decision was dated 16 March 2023; the merits were not decided. Huban alleged that €22,638 was unlawfully deducted from his wages in December 2017. He referred his complaint in July 2021, saying assurances of payment and an appeal about his employment status explained the delay. The WRC found those reasons did not excuse it.
