WRC rejects Sky Handling Partner complaint over reduced hours as out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission found it had no jurisdiction to hear Loredana Mihaela Serbanescu Mituica’s complaint against Sky Handling Partner Ltd over reduced hours and lay-off procedures. The decision was dated 25 February 2022; the merits of those allegations were not decided. Mituica said the employer failed to give written notice of a reduction in her hours and breached its lay-off and short-time procedures. The WRC found those alleged events in March 2020 were referred outside the required period. It also found she had received a written contract within the statutory timeframe. Her separate allegation about incorrectly completed welfare forms was found misconceived and not a breach of the Act.
