The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Aileen Lyons’s redundancy complaint after her former employer, Dr. David Ross, conceded it. The decision was dated 16 February 2023. Lyons worked as a medical secretary for Ross from July 2008 until her employment ended in January 2021. She said she had been told her job would transfer to the HSE and that she would receive redundancy pay, but Ross later said no payment would be made. He initially disputed her claim, including on the basis that a transfer of undertakings had taken place, then conceded it before the second hearing date. The WRC awarded her a statutory redundancy lump sum based on gross weekly pay of €485.10, subject to her employment being insurable for all purposes under the Social Welfare Consolidation Acts.
