The Workplace Relations Commission found Bus Eireann driver Mark Greaney’s two complaints over a €165.20 non-payment were not well founded, in a decision dated 2 December 2021. Greaney said the non-payment followed a missed shift on 28 December 2020 and amounted to penalisation and an unlawful deduction. The WRC found the alleged penalisation came before Greaney invoked his working-time rights, so there was no causal connection. It also found he knew he was rostered, did not work the shift and was not authorised to be absent; Bus Eireann had not deducted wages properly payable to him.
