The WRC ordered a café to pay a café manager €1,005.84 after it deducted that amount from his final wages for alleged excess annual leave, in a decision dated 25 April 2017. The officer accepted the employer’s records supporting its overpayment calculation but found there was no agreement on the deduction or a reasonable repayment schedule. The manager said €1,800 was due at the end of his employment but he received €794.16. The officer found the deduction did not comply with the Payment of Wages Act.
