The Labour Court rejected the Amalgamated Engineering And Electrical Union’s appeal and upheld the recommendation to reduce an Aer Rianta - Shannon plumber’s unpaid suspension from five working days to three. The decision was dated 10 June 1997. Management had concluded that the plumber was extremely negligent in carrying out temporary repairs after a sewage leak at Shannon Airport. The union argued that the repair was appropriate and sought to have the suspension removed from his record.
