The Labour Court upheld a Rights Commissioner’s £150 settlement recommendation in a dispute between the Department Of Defence and an unnamed worker over an alleged threat to a colleague and the loss of dumper-truck driving duties. The decision was signed on 6 December 1996. The worker denied making a threat and said he had been assured he would drive a replacement truck. The Department said he had never held the higher grade and that his allowance depended on the hours he worked as a dumper-truck driver. The Court found the allegation had been investigated and was without foundation, leaving the worker’s record clear. It said the change in driving duties followed changes in the vehicles and the need to use vehicles and staff efficiently.
