In 1993, the Labour Court left unchanged a Rights Commissioner’s recommendation in a dispute over one-person delivery trucks in Cork. The decision was dated 12 February 1993. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) appealed on behalf of drivers suspended after refusing to operate one-person trucks. The Rights Commissioner had recommended that their lost-time payment claim fail and that Irish Distillers Limited pay £1,000 to an agreed local charity. The Court found the events constituted a trade dispute and left the recommendation in place.
