The Labour Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that a worker at Heiton McFerr an Limited receive a lunch allowance only when driving. The decision was signed on 31 March 1989. The Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union appealed after the company refused to extend the allowance the worker’s predecessor had received at the depot or while driving. The company said that allowance was personal to the predecessor, who had a special agreement.
