Labour Court recommends withdrawal of complaint against Cavan hospital porter

In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that a complaint against a Cavan General Hospital porter be withdrawn and the matter closed, with the worker exonerated from any suggestion of wrongdoing. The decision was signed on 13 December 2002. Management alleged the porter had failed to respond to pager calls during a night shift. The union said the pager was faulty, and the worker denied failing to respond. Management said it could not conclusively prove the pager had activated and told the worker there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations.
