Viorel Doroscan and Otniel Richardo Clejan were sentenced to life in prison at the Central Criminal Court for murdering 22-year-old Mahamud Ilyas. The mandatory sentences followed their unanimous jury convictions earlier this year.
At sentencing, Mr Justice Tony Hunt said the men had suffered a “massive loss of control and reason” during the assault. He also described the way they dealt with the seriously injured Mr Ilyas as disrespectful and callous, and said their actions after driving him to Belgree Lane removed whatever chance he had of surviving.
